PLACES ...
... a little bit travel guide, about great places which we visited:
Mošćenička Draga (Croatia)
Mošćenička Draga, a small fisherman's village on the west coast of the Kvarner Gulf, has become an attractive destination drawing an increasing number of turists every year. One of the longest pebble beaches on the northern Adriatic and the clean sea contribute to its irresistible charm and timeless beauty. The beautiful promenade, the diverse forrest paths and the fisherman's landing at dusk are images that remain indelibly impressed on the memory. A couple of days vacation on
18-23 August, 2011 at this beautiful place on earth.

Herrnbaumgarten (Austria)
A small village at 212 metres altitude, just an hour’s drive from Vienna is home to some very idiosyncratic inhabitants. Here in
Herrnbaumgarten, near the Czech border and just behind the wine village of Poysdorf, we view on
7 August, 2011 the world from a novel perspective, veering happily between ironic lateral thinking, friendly professionalism and benevolent misconception. The showpiece of this quirkiness is the Nonseum, a museum full of exhibits invented by eccentrics - from a heated garden gnome to finger nail guillotines to high heel protectors.

Bratislava (Slovakia)
Vienna and
Bratislava are the nearest located EU capitals. Only 60 kilometres are separating the two cities. At the moment, both cities move together even closer, because the Twin City Liner goes city center to city center: from Schwedenplatz there are 12 kilometres along the Donaukanal (Danube canal), therefore the only lock between Vienna and Bratislava (Danube/Freudenau) can be by-passed. Then we are skimming along the Danube at 32,5 knots or 60 km/h cruising speed for approximately 50 kilometres and are landing directly next to the Old Town of Bratislava. Bratislava visit at
22nd August, 2010 on the Danube by the Twin City Liner.

Kreuzenstein (Austria)
Castle Burg Kreuzenstein - following the footprints of Matthias Corvinus at
30-31 August 2008. The first mention of certain Dietrich von Grizanestein can be identified in a document dated 1115. In April 1645 a swedish army under Field-Marshal Thorstenson occupied Kreuzenstein. The swedish were defeated by the Emperor troops, and this sealed the castle´s fate: it was systematically levelled to the groend, all that remained being an uninhabitable pile ofrubble. In 1874, it was count Johann Nepomuk Wiczek who embarked upon the rebuilding and restoration of the castle . The new castle, which was completed in 33 years , is modelled on similar edifices dating from the time of the emperor Maximilian I. (1459-1519), The last of the knights. Castle Wiener Neustadt: we enjoyed at this castles.

Las Vegas (USA)
By the early 1940s, downtown
Las Vegas had several luxury hotels and a dozen small but successful gambling clubs. In 1941 a businessman by the name of Thomas Hull, who owned a string of motor inns in California, decided to open the El Rancho Las Vegas, just outside the city limits right off the highway from Los Angeles. The El Rancho had 100 motel rooms, a western styled casino, it was located right off the highway and had a large parking lot with an inviting swimming pool in the middle. The El Rancho's quick success led to the building of another property down the road called the Last Frontier Hotel. Thus the Las Vegas Strip - visited on
18-22 June, 2007 - was born.

Grand Canyon (USA)
The
Grand Canyon is more than a great chasm carved over millennia through the rocks of the Colorado Plateau. It is more than an awe-inspiring view. It is more than a pleasuring ground for those that explore the roads, hike the trails, or float the currents of the turbulent Colorado River. This canyon is a gift that transcends what we experience. Its beauty and size humbles us. Its timelessness provokes a comparison to our short existence. In its vast spaces we may find solace from our hectic lives. Here our photo gallery about the flight on over the Cayon on
20 June, 2007.

Brussels (Belgium)
Galleries and museums, arcades and boulevards sprang up everywhere, not to mention the Palais of Justice, and the Cinquantenaire Park on
25-28 May, 2007. Somehow one is not totally amazed by the fact that these grand schemes all benefited the French speaking aristocratic Upper Town. Another revolution was probably prevented by the energetic lobbying of the Mayor of
Brussels, Charles Buls, who kept the old Flemish areas in one piece and attracted a huge number of writers and artists who gave the city its own little Belle Epoque, déjà vu of Paris or Vienna.

Maria Taferl (Austria)
Maria Taferl is an Austrian market municipality of 872 people in the District of Melk and the most important pilgrimage site in all of Lower Austria. After Mariazell, Maria Taferl is the most important pilgrimage destination in all of Austria. Melk is a city of Austria, in the federal state of Lower Austria, next to the Wachau valley along the Danube. The area around Melk was given to Margrave Leopold I in the year 976 to serve as a buffer between the Turks and Huns to east and Bavaria to the west. In 996 mention was first made of an area known as Ostarichi - which is recognized as the origin of the word Oesterreich (German for Austria). The bluff which holds the current monastery held a Babenberger castle until the site was given to Benedictine monks from nearby Lambach by Margrave Leopold II in 1089. Melk received market rights in 1227 and became a municipality in 1898. In a very small area, Melk presents a great deal of architectural variety from many centuries. Enjoy what we see on
Silvester 2006-2007.
